Would It Kill You?
Would it kill youTo apologise, to show remorse?Would it demean youto humble yourself,To show weakness?
Would it take awayfrom your dignityTo make clear your intentions? To speak with truth and integrity?
Would it make youless of a champion, less of a leaderTo defer, to consult, to give in?
Would it kill youTo say I was mistaken, I don’t knowShow me?
Would it be beneath youTo come clean, accept the inevitableAnd do the honorable thing?
Would you sleep betterIf you were always rightAlways have the upper handAlways telling us so?
Would it kill you,To consider us –Mere simpletons –Worthy of your time, your respect,Your consideration?
Would it kill you,To do unto uswhat you would have usDo unto you?
